Maximum Carnage Character Bios and Information - Jack Arden by Justin Anderson Jack Arden: birth date- March 14, 1978 height- 5' 11 1/2" hair- brown eyes- brown Jack Arden has had a sad life. At age eight, his house caught fire. While he magaed to escape the blaze, his parents weren't so lucky. With nowhere else to go, he moved in with his grandfather. Despite the lack of remains, he was officially declared "DECEASED" before the seven year peroid had even begun to expire. The final reason is credited to an inompetence of the acting coroner at the time, who was convicted of drug sale charges shortly after. At age seventeen, his grandfather died, leaving him a lonely drifter in the streets of a city he now called home- New York. He got by as a for-hire drug deliverer for local dealers, handling jobs that didn't require identification, and may have done small tasks for people doing far worse. He didn't care what kind of money it was..... it was money. At age twenty one, not long before his twenty second birthday, he was captured in a public bus, driven by Carnage. He became part of an experiment in immortality. He was also the same test subject to have the final version of the drug used, leaving him, to all current accounts, immortal. Rapid tissue regeneration and a non-aging body are the main side effects. After helping a newly-reformed Cletus Kasady inject himself with the same drug, and aiding him in the removal of a wrist unit capable of stopping is heart, Jack helped Cletus murder the scientist who had created the drug, to prevent his plans for world domination. Together, the two also levelled the lab facilities with a pack of high explosives. Shortly after, the two formed a small hero team. Jack was instrumental in stopping Electro from draining the city's power(once again), as well as playing a major role in stopping a mutated form of the scientist who had created the drug. He also managed to defeat the Dark God, Domientius, a being who had inhabited the Carnage symbiote. Jack is the leader of the team. He comes up with the ideas, and is the loud mouth who often curses at his enemies. However, his kill rate is extremely low in comparison to his partner. It was Jack's idea to join up with the National Security Agency as unofficial agents. Jack has also never had a relationship. In his drifter peroid, he had a hard time living on his own, and saw a girlfriend as an extra burden. After escaping the labs, however, he began taking Triazomine, a drug generally used on sexual criminals to bring their desires to normal levels. In Jack(and other normal people), the drug blocks all sexual urges. He is also incapable of seeing girls as "pretty", as the drug takes his mind off these things. In effect, when it coems to women, he is an emotionless robot. However, his immortality works against the drug, to a degree. It prevents him from receiving any unwanted, long-term side effects, and prevents him from developing a physical addiction. He must also take two pills a day to keep the effects going. This habit also costs him $1000 a month. He continued taking these pills even in the year-long retirement Maximum Carnage entered into after returning from Sub-Nizzuran. Deep down, he takes these because he feels no one could ever fall for him. It is his own personal escape from the subject. Jack is very proficient in the use of a large, pump-action shotgun, which he has used since the beginning. It holds ten 12-guage shells in the magazine, and has a reach on the left side which fits ten more shells for storage. Jack is capable of firing and pumping the slide fast enough that there is no pause between shots. Jack prefers to wear a 'costume' of sorts- black pants, a black shirt, a long black synthetic coat, which resembles leather, but is bullet- proof, and recently began wearing black gloves. He also wears a belt around his waist, which has a loop to hold his shotgun(and is big enough to fit the sword of Domientius at the same time, as he discovered). During their first adventures, he wore old sneakers, but recently threw them out in favor of black Army boots which zip up the sides, and have small pockets. Jack recently had his life given back to him, when his boss, General Robert Peterson, looked over his records. Rather than simply being reinstated as "LIVING", however, he was given a full life history, including schools records, a high school diploma, and other papers. This was done to give him an actual status, and because the General is a generous man towards those under his wing.
